THE BARDOS are a Paris-based photographer-and-film duo composed of Lindsay, raised in Zimbabwe and South Africa, and Toa, born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. They met at twenty, fell in love, ignored all practical advice, and built both a life and a creative practice together. Their work blends cinematic nuance with textural depth—images that move between fashion, narrative, and fine art. With a shared instinct for natural light, atmosphere, and stillness, their process is deeply collaborative and emotionally driven.
Grounded in Buddhist philosophy, the name The Bardos comes from the Tibetan term bardo meaning “intermediate state.” This idea of transition and presence informs both their worldview and their imagery: suspended, present, ungraspable. Their work resists fixed meaning, revealing itself in layers—sharp and soft, wild and considered, a quiet exploration of the space between movement and stillness, intimacy and distance, clarity and abstraction.
